Hourly paycheck calculator

Enter your hourly rate and the number of hours you worked to get a quick estimate of your gross pay. If some hours were overtime, add them with the multiplier your employer uses. This is a gross estimate before taxes; see the notes below.

Enter your hourly rate and how many hours you worked to see an estimate of your gross pay before taxes and deductions. Add overtime hours if some of your time is paid at a higher rate.

1.5 is time-and-a-half, 2 is double time.

How this calculator works

Regular pay is your hourly rate multiplied by regular hours. Overtime pay is your hourly rate multiplied by the overtime multiplier and your overtime hours. The two are added together to give estimated gross pay, the amount before taxes, deductions, and any other withholdings. It does not account for tips, bonuses, shift differentials, or local labor rules.

Not sure how many hours you worked? Use the work hours calculator first to get the hours for each shift.

Gross pay vs. take-home pay

Gross pay is what you earned. Take-home pay is what lands in your account after income tax, Social Security and Medicare (in the US), and anything else your employer withholds. The gap varies a lot by location and personal situation, so this calculator stops at gross pay rather than guess.

Frequently asked questions

How do I estimate my paycheck from hours worked?

Multiply your hourly rate by the total hours you worked. For example, 40 hours at $15/hour is $600 in gross pay before taxes and deductions.

Does this include taxes?

No. This calculator shows gross pay only. Your actual take-home pay will be lower after federal, state, and local taxes, plus any deductions your employer withholds.

How is overtime calculated?

Enter your overtime hours and a multiplier. With 1.5 (time-and-a-half), 5 overtime hours at $15/hour is 5 × 15 × 1.5 = $112.50, added to your regular pay. Whether hours count as overtime depends on your employer and local law.

Does this include tips?

No. Add tips separately. The Shiftly app records tips on each shift and includes them in your total earnings.
